The Bavarian CSU (Christian Social Union) are demanding the ARD and ZDF public TV companies to introduce a TV channel indented solely for refugees, bild.de reported yesterday. In a letter to both public TV’s (ARD and ZDF) CSU General Secretary Andreas Scheuer pointed out that public TV must do its part in the current refugee crisis.
In the letter he proposed the channel to be called “Deutsches Integrationsfernsehen DIF” (German Integrational TV). The main task of the new channel would be: ”communicating our German values and our German culture." The DIF should therefore provide basic law lessons, information broadcasts about the life in Germany and language courses for better integration of refugees into German society.
The ARD and the ZDF have about 1.6 billion Euros surplus of TV fees “frozen”. Scheuer proposes the money to be used to fund the new channel.
