The state made it to the eight spot (behind Hawaii on 7) of the 2016 list which was topped by the home of Count Dracula, the Romanian region of Transylvania. “Bavaria’s capital, Munich, bewitches with its sweeping gardens, superb museums, grand palaces and Oktoberfest, the world’s biggest beer bash.”
The Author attributes the Bavarian people to have “almost Mediterranean joie de vivre” and also points out that that 2016 will mark the 500th anniversary of the German “Reinheitsgebot” (the "German Beer Purity Law" in English). According to the 1516 Bavarian law, the only ingredients that could be used in the production of beer were water, barley and hops. So 2016 will be a good year to visit the Oktoberfest.
