Hard times for TSV 1860 Munich fans, but finally the first victory of the season for the club that first brought a Bundesliga title to Munich. It took the “Lions” over 90 minutes to beat the MSV Duisburg “Zebras” (really), the only club placed below them in the second tier of German football. Marius Wolf scored the only goal of the match that was played in front of only 17.000 spectators at Munich’s Allianz Arena.
Fans were hopeful ahead of the match since the TSV had won the German FA Cup match a few days ago. The team beat the second First Bundesliga team in the competition this season. The Lions were better than the 1. FSV Mainz, and had previously also kicked out 1899 Hoffenheim. The over half a million Euros earned by reaching the third round of the DFB Cup will also help the financially troubled Lions.
