As millions of us, Alex Diehl was watching the reports from the events in Paris Friday night. But he didn’t leave it at that. He turned on his smartphone camera and recorded “Nur ein Lied”(Only a Song), about the attacks.
The impressions of the last few months had piled up within him, and he put the text to the song on paper within minutes. The video of the song went viral on Facebook. It has been seen over 2.5 millon times over the past 48 hours, and was shared over 70.000 times.
We totally wouldn’t be Total, if we wouldn’t have totally translated the lyrics for you. Listen and share.
Only a Song
Have you learned nothing from it
Has no one explained it to you
How the rules work
Understand the game and get it
That the world belongs to no one
You stand here and we stand there
From fear no one sees clear
You are angry, we can understand it
But to go this way full of hate
Doesn’t solve the problem no way
Fear turns to hate, hate ito war
Until humanity is grounded
Until everything explodes here
And everyone loses their minds
We’ve seen it before
And I don’t want to just watch
As it all goes up in flames.
I’m too afraid to be silent.
It's just a song, but I’m not singing it alone.
For as John Lennon, I believe:
The World could live as one.
Our time is only borrowed,
Do we really want to spend it this way?
What must happen, so you can see
That all is on the overturn
And that it all can work only together?
Fear turns to hate, hate ito war
Until humanity is grounded
Until everything explodes here
And everyone loses their minds
We’ve seen it before
And I don’t want to just watch
As it all goes up in flames.
I’m too afraid to be silent.
It's just a song, but I’m not singing it alone.
You can spread hatered, incite fears,
But you will lose this fight
Because, as John Lennon, we believe:
The World will live as one.
