Unsatisfied Refugees Try to Burn Down Shelter

277 male asylum-seekers have been temporarily sheltered at an air hall in Karlsfeld near Dachau only a few days ago. Merkur.de reports that the refugees are not happy with the shelter and the food. 30 to 50 of them have earlier today refused to eat and announced that they would begin a hunger strike at the 300 capacity air hall.

The men are sleeping in groups of six at departments of the shelter, but they know that others have had more luck than them and are sharing rooms with only one roommate. The situation escalated, there were scuffles with more and more participants. Anger is also directed against the employees of the security company, which is present at the hall around the clock. One security staff member has been hit in the face. The perpetrator is known. Another threw a bottle at a security guard, this offender is unknown. Dachau police have intervened. Additionally, apparently some of the refugees have tried to set fire to the hall with lighters, but there has been only minor damage.

Authorities have proposed that the refugees choose representatives among themselves and a meeting with them on Monday. They are quoted saying that some of the complaints of the men in the air hall were justified, but that it will not be possible to meet all requests.
