During the festive season, the Munich Transport Corporation (Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft - MVG) offers a 25-minute tour to some of the City’s sights by an old and Christmassy decorated Tram from 1957, called the ChristkindlTram. The tours begin this Saturday, November 28, at the Sendlinger Tor.
The tram leaves the Sendlinger Tor station every half hour from 3:30pm until 7pm on weekdays and from 11am until 7:30pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets cost 2 euros for adults and only 1 euro for kids. You can buy tickets at the ticket booth next to the station.
The tour takes you from the Sendliger Tor past the Isartor to the Maxmonument, the National Theatre, Lenbach and Karls squares (Stachus) and back to the Sendlinger Tor. During the ride you can help yourself to some Glühwein and the kids to some cookies. The tours take place from November 28 until December 23.
On Sunday, November 29 and all other Sundays until Christmas, there is a special program for kids on the ChristkindlTram with magic and baloon-artists shows from 12pm until 4pm. St. Nicholas will also visit the tram (on December 5th for some reason). Many Munichers traditionally take the tour with their kids, as you can see in the video below.
