Contrary to most media reports and speculations, Irish Primark fashion store chain will not be the new lessee at one of the largest and most attractive spaces in downtown Munich. The reconstruction within the 6.800 square meter large (on four flours) space on the left side of the Joseph-Pshorr-Haus (Neuhauser Straße 19) is nearing completion and the mystery about who’s moving in has now also been resolved, abendzeitung-muenchen.de reports.
The American off-price retailers TK Maxx are going to open their first Munich store at the Neuhauser Straße location. ”At TK Maxx we deliver great value on ever-changing selections of brand name and designer products at prices up to 60% less than the RRP and at a significant discount to the prices in a department store or on the high street,” they say.
Retailers with stores at the Neuhauser and Kaufinger streets (Munich’s high streets) feared the rumour about the “discount-oriented” Primark store harming the image of the shopping streets. There is no reaction to the TK Maxx news yet.
