Retailers in Munich disappointed by Christmas Sales

While the Bavarian Retail Association has said that they were satisfied with how much Bavarians and their guests have shopped during the Advent weeks, retailers of the state capital are not particularly satisfied with business thus far.

Most of the shops in downtown Munich sell textiles, but since the weather is much warmer than expected, winter clothing and winder sports goods sales are very slow. Many of the stores already offer discounts that are usually expected after Christmas and hope that the first days of the following week will push sales up a bit. So now would be the ideal time to shop for clothing in Munich. Books, perfumes, toys, electronics or jewellery were in usual demand for the season.

In total, Christmas sales throughout Bavaria will probably rise by 2 percent, while business in Munich will probably remain at last year’s level.
