OAG, the global leader in air travel intelligence, has announced the results of the OAG Punctuality League 2015, the industry’s most comprehensive annual ranking of on-time performance (OTP) for the world’s airlines and airports last week.
Good news if you are travelling from or to Munich. The airport Munich is the worldwide second in on-time arrivals and departures, behind only Tokyo’s Haneda and ahead of Brazil’s Sao Paolo Guarholos, in the category of large airports with over 20 million passengers a year. 87.71% of flights from and to Munich are not over 15 minutes late (Tokyo Haneda 91.25%).
John Grant, senior analyst at OAG, says: “The OTP rankings of airports will always differ across the regions as operational issues such as congestion, competition from other transport modes and scheduling come into play. Prudent expectation setting means keeping schedules realistic in the face of increasingly congested hub airports, to help the integrity of that airline’s entire schedule.”
