Tonight at 6:30pm, the alliance "München ist bunt" (Munich is colourful) is set to demonstrate for tolerance at the Odeonsplatz in downtown Munich in front of the historic Feldherrnhalle. Pegida (Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the Occident - German: Patriotische Europäer gegen die Islamisierung des Abendlandes) have registered a demonstration at the same location for 7pm. As we have reported, Pegida have also already registered for regular vigils during the week.
The motto of the "München ist bunt" is “One year of Pegida is enough! Do not allow for racist and xenophobic propaganda to be heard on this historic place.” They are expected to obstruct the Pegida demonstration so the Munich police have already made a statement in which it said that it will not allow for this to happen and that they will make sure that both groups right to demonstrate is ensured. Munich is readying for an interesting evening.
