Ismaik: No More Money for the FC Bayern

The TSV 1860 Munich stadium saga continues and remains one of the main topics in Munich sports. On Thursday (January 14) the 60% owner of the TSV, Jordanian billionaire Hasan Ismaik took to Facebook and posted a series of posts regarding his commitment to the Lions, as well as his intention for the club to play at a new stadium.

The German second tier club is currently paying rival FC Bayern 6 million euros a year to play at Munich’s Allianz Arena, and is bound by contract to do so for the next ten years. The two clubs had each held 50% of the stadium, but the TSV had to sell their share to the Reds or go bankrupt (which many fans would have preferred).

Ismaik posted to Facebook: “The 6 million euros payments to the FC Bayern Munich must be stopped, we should invest the money in 1860.” In another post, he wrote: “With you Lions, we will build a new stadium which will carry the name, the identity and the tradition of 1860.”
