The Hippocampus is yet another great and top rated Italian restaurant in posh Munich Bogenhausen. The restaurant is located just a few steps from the Prinzregenten Theatre since 1996. The Chef, Cosimo “Mimmo” Ruggiero’s former place La Vigna was the first italian restaurant with a Michelin star in Munich. He also has been trained all over the world, for example at Eckart Witzigmann’s “Aubergine“ and at the „Schweizer Stuben“ in Wertheim-Bettingen, Germany's top gourmet addresses.
Four course menus at the Hippocampus start at €65 with wine and you can have a look at the current offer here. During the summer, you can enjoy the outside of the restaurant on its terrace. Surrounded by a green hedge you sit most comfortably in those stylish wrought iron chairs with their cosy light beige cushions. In the evening they light big iron torches which give the whole garden a romantic atmosphere and make you feel like on holiday. That’s why the remarkable garden of the Hippocampus has been mentioned by several magazines as being one of the most beautiful restaurant gardens in Munich.
The interiour of the restaurant features remarkable treasures, most of them imported from Italy: dark oak wooden panels are covering the walls, there is a yellow and black Siena marble floor, the art nouveau bronze lamps from a former luxury hotel of the Golden Twenties, etc.
