The Cafe Reitschule next to Munich’s Englischer Garten is a beautiful place to spend your weekend mornings at. The cafe and restaurant has been opened in the 20s of the past century and although it has been thoroughly renovated some six years ago, it has kept the charm of a upscale place from the 20s. It has been the place to be for Munich’s Schickeria in the 50s and 70s but is now a nice and affordable place for everyone taking a break from strolling through the Bavarian capital’s largest parks (and one of the largest inner-city parks of the world). The cafe and restaurant Reitschule (riding school) owes its name to the stables and the riding school next to it.
We have placed the Cafe Reitschule in the brunch category but you can have any meal at the place since ti opens at 9am on any day of the week and closes at 1am and 9pm on Sundays. The brunch/breakfast is offered from 9am-noon and on Sunday until 3pm. The breakfasts offered include every kind of breakfast from a Small (croissant, butter, marmalade,...) for €3.90, over classic, Classic, Bavarian, English, Scandinavian (recommended if you are into fish in the morning), Rustic, Cheese, Pancake, etc. the menu is not available in English language online, but you shouldn’t have a problem with translating the it. You can download it from here.
The Cafe Reitschule prides itself for using local produce, meat, bio-eggs, etc. from the region and they make their own marmalade. The restaurant also offers reasonably priced daily business lunch menus and you can have burgers and a pastrami sandwich. There are also big terraces on three levels of the building which are also nice in the evening and you can park your bicycle right in front of the one on the ground floor.
