Top Munich Open Air Events in June 2016

Munich offers some top open-air music concerts, open-air public viewing of the German matches at the UEFA 2016 European Football Championship, the open-air cinemas begin operating, the Tollwood Summer Festival begins and some traditional festivities at the Viktualienmarkt and the Marienplatz. Below are the top events of June 2016.

Africa Days Munich June 2-5

During the Africa Days Munich at the Theresienwiese you can get to know the continent, taste African Food, buy African clothing and other products at a huge bazar, and enjoy concerts of African musicians.

Brewers Day June 4

Every other year Munich’s breweries parade through the city and to the Viktualienmarkt. Young brewers get the blessing of the Mayor and the brewers swear to uphold the Reinheitsgebot.

Paul McCartney June 10

Paul McCartney returns to Munich’s Olimpic Stadium as part of his current “One on One Tour”.

Streetlife and Corso Leopoldo June 11 and 12

A party-mile in central Munich with music, art, sports and other action taking place along the Ludwigstraße.

UEFA 2016 Public Viewing of German Matches, June 12, 16 and 21

The first two matches (against the Ukraine on Sunday, June 12 and against Poland on Thursday, June 16) of the German National Team will be shown at a huge screen floating on the Olympiasee at the Olympiapark both matches will begin at 9pm. Tickets are already available from Muenchenticket.de and cost €8. The third match of the group phase against Northern Ireland will be played on Tuesday, June 21 at 6pm and public viewing will be organised at the Olympic Stadium.

Town Foundation Festival June 18 and 19

Celebrate Munich’s official Birthday at the two-day Festival at and around the Marienplatz from 10am-10pm on both days

Tollwood Summer Festival June 29 – July 24

The Tollwood Summer Festival begins not with one, but with two bangs. James Bay opens the Tollwood concert summer on June 29 followed by a concert by Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls!
