The City of Munich announced today, May 23, 2016 via the City’s official website at muenchen.de that over 150,000 summer flowers and other plants are going to be planted all over central Munich in the coming week to bring true summer feelings to locals and visitors of the Bavarian capital.

The building of the City Hall at the Marienplatz is set to look even more beautiful from tomorrow on once the geranium (Balcony Pink) pots are back at their place on the buildings balconies. Other places of the Bavarian capital where summer flowers will be planted into stone flower pots include the Karolinenplatz, the Odeonsplatz and other pedestrian zones. Below is a video to get you in the mood for a summer weekend in Munich.

All in all, a total of 600 mobile pots at 40 locations throughout the city and some 3,600 square meters of soil are going to receive summer plants. The plants come from the City’s own nursery and are matched differently each year. This year’s motto is “Gradients, Colour Triads and Unusual Contrasts”.
