The City of Munich has yesterday, July 18, 2016 begun a campaign under the name “True Love Is” (also “True Love Isar”), the City reports on its official site at muenchen.de. The newly introduced campaign promotes the Isar River and aims for the people visiting it, bathing, barbequing, picnicking and often also partying at the shores of the River which runs through Munich to behave responsibly and to collect and dispose the garbage they’re producing correctly.
In the video below, the Mayor of the Bavarian capital, Dieter Reiter, says exactly that and even adds thats it’s ok for the people to party, and even drink a few beers, but to please not break the glass bottles and to collect whatever they bring with them. A total of 750 billboards and posters have been posted to promote the campaign near the shores of the Isar and throughout the city. On weekends, rikshas will be on their way to distribute garbage bags and give advice.
A new app has also been introduced as part of the campaign (currently only available in German). The app, named “Natürlich Isar”, is free and offers all information needed to responsibly enjoy the beauties of the River and have a good time. The exact locations of beaches, children playgrounds, sights along the shores of the Isar are marked on a map. Also marked are the places where barbequing is allowed, as well places where to dispose of garbage and the locations of toilets. You can download the app from here.
