The annual impark Summer Festival at the Olympiapark begins today, August 1, 2016. The beginning of this year’s instalment of the festival was planned for July 28, but has been postponed because of the week of mourning which was announced by Mayor Dieter Reiter and lasted until this past Sunday.
The summer festival shortens the waiting for the Oktoberfest and offers a host of activities and culinary delights for people of all ages including games and performances for children, a carnival, water games In the evenings there are admission free concerts at the Theatron stage on the Olympic Lake. Fireworks are also part of the Impark Festival and this year they are set to take place on August 4 and 18. Children Days are set for August 2, 9 and 16.
The Ahoi Beach Bar located directly at the Olympic Lake opens every day at 11am and offers 800 square metres of sandy beach, deck chairs and cocktails. If you’ve always wanted to try out wakeboarding, you have a chance to do it every day from 10am until 7pm, except for August 5 and 6 (because of competitions taking place then). You can rent all the equipment you need for €20.
The 35th instalment of the festival will last 21 days, from August 1 to 21. Opening hours for the free festival are: Monday – Wednesday noon to 10pm, Thursdays and Fridays noon to 11pm (11:30pm on the nights when the fireworks take place), Saturdays 11am – 11pm and Sundays 11am to 10pm.
